Motion reads: "That this House notes the preliminary recommendations of the National Institute for Clinical Excellence appraisal committee concerning Alzheimer's disease drugs, which recommended against their use in the NHS; notes the recent recommendations of the Independent Expert Medical Panel report, Improving Care of Advanced Stages of Alzheimer's Disease, which stressed the need for effective drug therapy in the management and treatment of this illness; believes this decision to have been made largely on the grounds of cost and based upon an inherently flawed economic model; and calls upon the Government to intervene and not to abandon Alzheinmer's sufferers."
